What Happened

On the afternoon of Friday, October 2, 2026, bricks were thrown at the Shree Swaminarayan Vadtal Dham Hindu Mandir in Richmond Heights, a suburb in the Greater Cleveland area of Ohio. According to the Hindu American Foundation (HAF), the incident occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. local time and caused significant damage to the building.

The Coalition of Hindus of North America (CoHNA) reported that windows were shattered and that priests and some devotees were inside the temple at the time. News reports published the following day stated that no injuries had been reported.

HAF reported that surveillance footage of the incident is available and is being reviewed by authorities, and that it had alerted the FBI and the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division.
